Faculty of Earth Science (FSB) started it's operation in Jeli Campus on April 2012. Before being formed as a faculty, Department of Earth Science initially existed on 8 of June 2009 as a department in Faculty of Agro Industry and Natural Resources (FASA). Experience in managing several programmes within nearly three years brought this department a sufficient prepartion to form a new faculty in UMK. At the early formation, FSB offered three programmes of bachelor degree of applied science, which are Natural Resources Science, Sustainable Science and Geoscience.
While strengthening the existed programme, FSB also planned a few new program and succesfully offered a new program which are Materials Technology in 2013 and Forest Resources Technology in 2014. Untill now (January, 2016), there are five bachelor degree programmes in FSB. In addition, master of science and doctor of philosophy programme are also offered in FSB. These academic programmes are managed by three department, which are Department of Natural Resources Technology, Department of Geoscience and Department of Natural Resources and Sustainability.
Currently, FSB is still sharing the old faculty building block (FASA, now FIAT) while waiting for it's own building block to be finished. These buiding blocks of FSB are expected fully functioning in 2017. Though the faculty is still new, the current facilities are sufficient to support teaching and learning session such as lecture room, laboratories, basic equipment and research equipment.
FSB commited in supporting university agenda and this clearly seen in vission of FSB, which is "Pioneer in developing knowledge and technology of natural resources with sustainability through enterpreneurship". Academic programme offering at undergraduate is inline with this vission which the curriculum development directed toward natural resources and assisted with entrepreneurship agenda.
